Want to feel old?

Here's how:

Explain to a 6yo how to use a 35mm camera.

It will likely go a little something like this:
Me: "Okay Manda, this isn't like a digital camera. You can't see the pictures after you take them"
Manda: "okay"
Me: "First you take the picture, then you wind this thing here until it clicks" *Demonstrates*
Manda: "What's that button do?"
Me: "That turns on the flash, if you push that and the red light comes on, that means the flash is ready"
Manda: *look of confusion*
Me: "Do you understand? Take the picture, then wind this. Don't worry about the flash"
Manda: ''okay (?)"
*Less than a minute later*
Manda: "I'm done."
Me: "You used up that whole camera already?"
Manda: "No, it doesn't work anymore"
Me: "Did you wind it?"
Manda: "No, you did"
Me: "Manda. You have to wind it after every picture"
Manda: ''Oh"
Me: "Click, wind, click, wind, click, wind."
Justin: "That's a load of crap!" *said in shock that a 35mm camera is ancient technology to a 6yo*
*Manda leaves, another minute passes*
Manda: "Mommy, I'm done. I think I'll do something else"

Tips:
Try not to look confused as you struggle to remember exactly how a 35mm camera works.
Do not think about who still develops 35mm cameras anymore. That will not help the confusion.
Do NOT remind yourself that your 6yo has not been alive without internet. This will not help either.
