MamaArcher has started a QF blogroll. One of the things to do in order to be on the blogroll is to post about being qf. So...even though I recently did that I'm doing it again, only from a different perspective.
People tend to assume that we've always been quiverfull...after all, we'd have to be to have 4 kids in 5 years right? Actually no. We weren't even christians until stephanie was about 6 months old...and we had no idea what qf even was. And when I started hearing about it, it seemed something quite crazy, that only nutball christians did.
But, after Isaiah was born, God worked on my heart. He kept telling me that He has taken care of me over and over and provided for our family over and over, so why can't we just trust Him in this too? Well...there really is no answer for that is there? I was convicted, and although it took a bit of time and prayer for Justin to come around too, he agreed that in order for us to say that we as a couple trusted God then we had to turn our fertility over to Him.
It really wasn't that hard actually. We already had 4 kids. And *gasp* they were all on purpose. We love our kids, and although the only one that wasn't planned (by us) was Stephanie, we can look back and say with complete trust and truth that our family wouldn't be the same without her. If we lived by the world's standards of perfect spacing between kids, perfect homes filled with all the gadgets, and only 2..maybe 3 kids, then we wouldn't have half our kids! God has given us exactly what He wants us to have. This is not how we would have planned it for sure, especially 5 years ago when we started our family. But what do we know? Nothing..that's what. God's plans are awesome and His ways are perfect. So who are we to say that He can have only so much of us and not our family size?
